The Assassin's Enemy Lover

Chapter 266

Yi Chen took a second to respond to him.

AlreadyTaken: Be Careful.

AlreadyTaken: I love you.

He didn’t wait for Zi Han’s response as he followed after those creatures. His brow furrowed as he witnessed the creatures place the conscious pair on the ground before dozens of vines crept towards them.

In a matter of minutes, their bodies were constrained by the vines engulfing them until one could barely see their bodies. As they wailed and screamed the deadly phantoms hovering above them became even more energetic moving in an orderly manner like they had a hive mindset.

Yi Chen knew he was outnumbered and couldn’t do anything to save those people. As the bodies were dissolved completely the vines loosened and retreated into the darkness followed by a loud shrill that made one’s ears bleed.

Yi Chen scanned the frame of whatever was in the darkness and his expression changed drastically. It was the female or the queen of these creatures. Its body was large and plump like it was on the verge of bursting. Once it bursts it would release a lot of hungry younglings and their first meal would be the people on this planet.

From the way its body was vibrating it was probably going to give birth soon. He knew at that moment that he should do something because after it gave birth the situation would be more problematic. He took out a spherical device about the size of his palm and using his light brain he set the coordinates.

.....

A second later the spherical device broke into several pieces flying in various directions. The pieces attached themselves to the cave walls waiting for his command.

Yi Chen didn’t immediately blow this place up. Instead, he waited for Zi Han to get everyone to safety before doing anything.

Meanwhile, Zi Han’s backup arrived. Surprisingly it was Hela and Evan’s squad that got here first. When they saw him Hela wasn’t at all shy about it directly asking, “Where is your husband?” before snickering like a preschooler.

Zi Han, “...”

“He is probably somewhere out there cooling off. I bet you two fought,” replied Shannon in a whisper as they untied the group of people.

“No, we didn’t...,” replied Zi Han seeming a little defensive.

“Trouble in paradise? You know I can give you a shoulder to lean on,” said Evan whispering to him as he passed by.

“All of you back off. Let’s focus on freeing these people first,” said Zi Han only for Shorty to chime in,

“You know you can talk to us. We are here for you.”

Zi Han, ???

Okay, he had finally had enough. “You guys can handle this, right?” he said before turning to leave.

“Where are you going?” asked Shorty with a perplexed look on his face.

“Anywhere but here,” replied Zi Han in a loud whisper before walking out. It seemed he was finally paying the price for the dog food they always sprinkled in everyone’s faces.

When people around you are so used to seeing you together stuck like glue they would be very concerned when you are apart. Zi Han decided that instead of being questioned about their relationship he would rather go and look for his boyfriend.

Who would have thought that as he turned the corner he would bump into someone literally running for their life? That girl from earlier had somehow been found by these creatures and was running while screaming her lungs out.

Zi Han’s response was fairly quick, he grasped the neck of the creature and smashed its head repeatedly onto the tunnel wall as the girl stood nearby crying her eyes out.

Two smashes in and streaks of purple blood were shot out splashing on the tunnel walls and Zi Han’s face dirtying his cheek. His actions were especially brutal frightening the girl. That’s because he was trying to silence it before it attracted the attention of the others.

Unfortunately, it was already too late. Her scream from earlier had already done the trick. Coupled with the screech of this dying creature Zi Han was expecting company soon.

Zi Han turned to her his expression dark as he was already in combat mode. It was because of this that she flinched her complexion ghastly like she had seen a monster.

Apparently, it seemed he was more terrifying than the deadly phantoms. “A few feet from here you will find the rest of my team now run,” he said before a loud shrill bounced off the tunnel walls as a warning. Zi Han no longer had the privilege to play nice. He took out his advanced submachine gun and things escalated to a whole new level.

The girl who was meant to be running for her life was frozen in place from fright. Zi Han didn’t think she was still around. He only noticed when one of the deadly phantoms flew past him rushing in her direction.

“Shit,” he muttered as he pointed the gun at the creature but he knew if he pulled the trigger she would get shot as well which was counterproductive. In a swift move, he hurried over and pushed her out of the way shielding her with his body as they rolled on the ground.

The creature that had missed its target changed trajectory and behind it were several other creatures rushing over to take a bite. A series of gunshots rang in the air with blood showering down on both of them. After clearing out the tunnel a voice called out, “Han Han.” It was Hela who had rushed over when she realized something was wrong.

“Take her,” said Zi Han as he got up. He wasn’t even in the mood to talk to her. This was why he disliked civilian rescue missions. He wasn’t really a people person nor was he the friendly poster boy of the military thus he most likely would leave a very bad impression on whoever he saves like this girl for instance.

He would probably get a bad review after this. Imagine what that would be like? Handsome and tall but not so friendly.
